Women's subscription styling service Stitch Fix has announced it will be opening an outpost in Austin, the company's third. The new space, a 10,000-square-foot office space at 816 Congress Ave. will, sadly, not feature a retail element, but it will bring 250 jobs to the city, mostly in the creative and engineering sectors.
Stitch Fix is an online company that matches users with virtual "stylists." Customers fill out a survey detailing their favorite styles, measurements and preferred brands, and then receive a monthly "fix" filled with clothing and accessories personally selected by a stylist. Users have five days to mull over the items and return what they don't want.
According to a company spokesperson, Stitch Fix's new Austin office will be composed of all local hires, specifically in the stylist, engineer and client experience agent roles. Said the spokesperson, "The company already employs 190 full time and part time stylists in Austin — along with customer service agents — so it was the next logical step in growth. Stitch Fix prides [itself] on blending the art of fashion with the science of technology so [we] couldn’t think of a better fit than Austin."
Stich Fix's Congress Avenue offices should be open by March 2015. The company is headquartered in San Francisco.
