Never Leave The House
Amazon announces Sunday delivery is now available in Austin
We just got one step closer to never having to actually leave the house. Amazon announced Thursday that it will now offer the Sunday delivery to millions of customers — including us here in Austin.
Working in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Service, Amazon is expanding the seven days a week delivery option beyond the New York and Los Angeles metro areas, where it has been available since November 2013, to include 15 addition U.S. cities. Texans are certainly the big winners, with the Austin, Dallas, Houston, Waco, College Station and San Antonio areas included in the expansion. The service is available starting immediately to Amazon customers who will see the Sunday delivery option during check out.
But what do folks tend to purchase on Sundays? Amazon’s vice president of North America operations, Mike Roth, said in a press release that baby products including apparel, books and toys have been the most popular items. "Sunday delivery is clearly crossing errands off the weekend to-do list," said Roth.
Other cities where the new service is available are Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; Lexington, Kentucky; Louisville, Kentucky; New Orleans; Oklahoma City; Philadelphia and Shreveport, Louisiana.
