BLACK EXCELLENCE
Largest national Black tech conference returning for 2nd year in Austin
The largest Black tech conference in the country is returning to Austin for its second year to connect some of the city’s top innovators with its growing number of tech companies.
The 2023 AfroTech Conference is scheduled for November 1-5 at the Austin Convention Center. The five-day conference brings thousands of professionals together with over 300 companies – including Amazon, Meta, and Google – to expand the representation of Black Americans in STEM fields.
Much like South by Southwest, the conference is packed with energetic programming, innovative guest speakers, and numerous networking opportunities with industry leaders and recruiters. Confirmed speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
At its successful Austin debut in 2022, AfroTech’s economic impact totaled $18.2 million, and supported nearly 150 jobs in the city.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the conference was transformed into a virtual-only event, and in previous years was held in San Francisco’s Bay Area. The first AfroTech event took place in 2016.
Tickets for the Afrotech Conference are on sale now, and can be purchased on their website.
