Under Armour to open new headquarters at Austin's Seaholm development
KVUE — Under Armour's first-ever "Connected Fitness" digital headquarters is coming to Austin at the revitalized Seaholm Power Plant development. Under Armour officials said the office currently employs 120 people, and it will be hiring an additional 100 people, most of the jobs based in Austin.
The Connected Fitness program focuses on the company's digital products and powers various health and fitness applications, including UA Record, MapMyFitness, Endomondo and MyFitnessPal.
The new office will have fitness perks including a spin boardroom and treadmill desks.
Under Armour officials said the new office will have fitness perks including a spin boardroom, in-office bike storage and repair stations, treadmill desks, a fitness recreation room, men's and women's locker rooms with showers, and a stocked kitchen full of healthy food options.
The Under Armour team will celebrate the launch of the new office with an open house from 6-10 pm on Thursday.
Under Armour joins Athenahealth, who moved into the Seaholm redevelopment at the beginning of February. The project to transform the 113,000-square-foot space began 11 years ago. The revitalized power plant has four levels and includes modern furniture, giant white boards for brainstorming, a fully stocked kitchen and even disc golf.
The medical software company has a staff of more than 70 now and plans to hire hundreds more in coming years.
