Austin realtor recruited for new season of hit HGTV series
One local home builder has snagged a featured spot on one of HGTV's hottest realty and home improvement shows.
Thomas Brown, co-founder of custom home building company Paradisa Homes, will star on the second season of HGTV series, Brother Vs. Brother. The show is a spin-off of the popular Property Brothers, starring twin brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott.
In the new series, the brothers will square off against each other — each with a team of five professionals including interior designers, architects, realtors and contractors who will remodel multiple homes while competing for a $50,000 cash prize. Brown was chosen from thousands of other applicants across the nation to fly out to New York City for on-screen testing before being signed on to the show.
Brown is a home builder who also has extensive experience as a local realtor. “I got my start in the mortgage banking industry and was quickly drawn to buying and flipping homes in the late ‘90s,” he says.
“In 2010 we launched a home renovation business and quickly realized that there was an opportunity in the marketplace to build custom homes in mature neighborhoods around Austin. Shortly thereafter, I got my Texas Real Estate license so I would have the ability to sell the homes we were building. Now, much like the Property Brothers, I work in both real estate sales and new home construction.”
Brown, the only Texan in the cast, will join the team of Drew Scott, the real estate agent of the two brothers. No details have been revealed regarding Brown’s role on the show, but the Austin realtor is excited for the opportunity.
“My real dream is to find a way to bring a reality TV series to Austin and showcase some of the great projects happening around town,” says Brown. Season two of Brother Vs. Brother premieres Sunday, June 8 at 8 pm.
