Wildly popular pizza truck rolls out plans for new East Austin location
Here’s the bad news: Via 313’s original location at the Violet Crown Social Club on East Sixth Street will be closing after a more than six-year run. Unfortunately, that means no more pizza and orange whip dinners.
But that dark cloud comes with a very silver lining. The wildly popular Detroit-style pizza joint will be moving operations just steps away to 1802 E. Sixth St., the former home of failed Dunlap ATX concepts Burn Pizza + Bar and Collide.
The new Via will offer the same extended lunch and dinner menus as the Oak Hill and campus-area locations, as well as a full bar. Owners Brandon and Zane Hunt say they will be moving the truck to a new spot, although the exact location has yet to be finalized.
“While we hate leaving our friends at the Crown since they were a huge part of our growth, this is the next step for us,” Brandon Hunt tells CultureMap. “Shorter ticket times, online ordering, full menu with salads and apps and lunch. It just made sense.”
Collide launched with a bang in 2017 with a multi-use concept that included gallery space, a live music stage, and rotating food offerings, but quietly bowed out last month with a message on its website. The Hunt brothers expect Via's newest brick-and-mortar to open by the second quarter of 2018.
