Torchy's rolls out free tacos in honor of South First trailer's shutter

KVUE — Torchy's Tacos on South First Street has announced it will be giving out free tacos as part of a "Thank You Austin" celebration as the company closes down its "Trailer Park" location.
Torchy's will be giving out its four original tacos and Green Chile Queso for free on Wednesday, March 7, from 5-9 pm.
“Without the love from the city of Austin, we would have never been able to make these taco dreams come true," said Michael Rypka, founder and vice president of marketing and culinary at Torchy’s Tacos. "To thank y’all for the years of support and countless tacos consumed, we’re revving up the Trailer for one last ride.”
What makes this bittersweet news even better is that Torchy's will donate $1 to the Texas School for the Deaf for each taco given away.
“The decision to close our Trailer Park location was not an easy one,” Rypka said. “We are proud of our humble beginnings and we will always stay true to running our business with the same entrepreneurial spirit we had in 2006. Reaching this point just proves that with passion, dedication, and a lil’ bit of taco magic, anything can happen. Our dreams of expansion were realized because the people of Austin embraced us with open arms. While the Trailer Park will be gone, our commitment to serving 'Damn Good Food' will always live on."
In a statement posted on Facebook, Torchy's stated the celebration will also have live music, beer sampling, and a variety of non-alcoholic beverages.
