Austin's culinary scene is losing another resource: On Monday, April 17, chef-owners Todd Duplechan and Jessica Maher announced the impending closure of Métier Cook's Supply.
The decision to close the quaint kitchen supply and cookbook shop on South First Street was fueled by the husband-and-wife team's desire to concentrate on their acclaimed restaurant Lenoir, located next door.
"Interest and demand at the restaurant have increased in the three years we've been operating both businesses, and we're now at a point where we feel it would be in our best interest to focus our attention on [Lenoir's] growth," reads a statement from Métier.
While the closure may be disheartening for professional and home cooks alike, Duplechan and Maher aren't sad — something new for the prime spot is already in the works.
"We've been very fortunate to develop relationships with talented makers and with other cooks in Austin who are looking for well-crafted tools," says the duo. "It has been an absolute pleasure to meet so many people in our Austin community, and we plan to continue in that vein with our new use of the space."
Now's the time to visit the store, as everything is 40 percent off. A final date for Métier has not yet been released.
