Veracruz All Natural continues taco domination with new brick-and-mortar plans
Taco fans, rejoice! One of Austin's all-time favorite taco trailers is going brick-and-mortar. Veracruz All Natural is slated to open a stand-alone restaurant — expanding its legacy of tasty tacos — on East Cesar Chavez later in 2014.
Veracruz's new restaurant will be located at 2301 E. Cesar Chavez, across the street from Juan in a Million.
According to a report from the Austin American-Statesman, Veracruz's owners Maritza and Reyna Vasquez will open the restaurant at 2301 E. Cesar Chavez, across the street from Juan in a Million. With the expanded space comes expanded offerings and hours. The brick-and-mortar Veracruz will be open from 7 am to 11 pm daily, and the new restaurant will include a juice bar.
Signature tacos will still be the staple at the new spot, which is great news for foodies — and Mayor Lee Leffingwell, too. Just last week Leffingwell was part of a taco intervention, after he announced that his favorite breakfast taco came from the chain restaurant Taco Cabana. During the intervention, which was spearheaded by local "taco journalist" Mando Rayo, the mayor was introduced to Veracruz's highly regarded migas taco. Afterward, Leffingwell said it was one of the best tacos he had ever eaten. (The combination of eggs, cheese, tortilla strips and fresh avocado is ultra satisfying.)
Trailer food purists need not worry: as of now, Veracruz's mobile kitchens aren't going anywhere. In fact, Eater Austin reports that a third Veracruz trailer is in the works for South Austin.
For now, you can satiate cravings at Veracruz's trailers on East Cesar Chavez and in front of The Grackle on East Sixth Street.
