New Braunfels Bar Honored
Paris, London, New Braunfels? Vogue Australia names Central Texas bar among best in the world
What comes to mind when someone mentions the best cities in the world? Paris, perhaps? London or Sydney? Tokyo or New York? What about New Braunfels? Well Vogue Australia certainly considers our Central Texas neighbor a world-class gem.
Vogue Australia's Top 20 Bars in the World, a list that lauds watering holes around the globe, has named New Braunfels' Gruene Hall among the best in the world. "This honky-tonk dance hall in a ghost town in middle-of-nowhere Texas is where Texans come from far and wide to throw back a few and quite literally kick up their heels," writes author David Prior.
Vogue also suggests ordering its drink of choice, the "Frozen ’rita."
The attention is nothing new for Texas' oldest continually operating dance hall. Gruene Hall has graced the pages of everything from USA Today, Country Living and Texas Monthly. A beloved honky-tonk with heart, Gruene Hall seems the perfect choice to represent Texas on the list.
Among the other U.S. establishments honored is the The Carousel Bar & Lounge in the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, The Broken Shaker in Miami, and La Descarga in Los Angeles.
