Popular kitchen and bar flies into Austin airport with something new

Good news for Austin travelers. The long-awaited Austin-Bergstrom International Airport outpost of Second Bar + Kitchen has an opening date: August 29.
Second Bar + Kitchen's arrival marks something new for the airport. “Our newest airport restaurant lands in the best of Austin restaurant rankings with its bold and savory flavors,” says Jim Smith, executive director of ABIA, in a release. “The new venue offers seated service with a host station, new to the airport.”
The ABIA outpost will open at 4:30 am daily and close 30 minutes after the last flight departs. It is located at Gate 7 of the Barbara Jordan Terminal. Helming the kitchen is executive chef Jesse Marco, who "will take the reins on creating founding chef David Bull’s menu," notes the release.
There will be "snacks and starters" like baked brie and fried pickles, as well as a limited menu of salads and sandwiches, plus a few of the restaurant's signature pizzas. Cocktails, local beer, and wine by the glass will also be served.
This is the third branch of the local favorite. In 2016, the La Corsha Hospitality Group closed Restaurant Congress and expanded the original Second Bar + Kitchen into that space. A second outpost opened at the Archer hotel at Domain Northside in August 2016.
It's also one of many new dining additions at ABIA. Last month the airport announced plans to add a host of new options, including JuiceLand, the Peached Tortilla, Flyrite Chicken, Hat Creek Burger Company, and more.
