Do the Spriggy Jiggy: Hey Cupcake! reveals its cartoon cast of characters
Hey Cupcake!, Austin’s very own confectionary creators and cupcake slingers, have launched a new site promoting their new endeavor into an online cartoon webseries that has been in the works for several months now.
“Mr. Spriggy and the Cupcake Crew” features a cast of colorful cupcake characters. Many of them are inspired by treats regular customers may recognize from the menu at the iconic Airstream trailers. The leader of the bunch, Mr. Spriggy, is an anthropomorphized Vanilla Dream cupcake, one of the more popular choices, while others are living incarnations of the Red Velvet and Sweetberry cupcakes.
Anyone who has subscribed to Hey Cupcake!’s online newsletter received a link to the website and the Facebook fan page, revealing the introductory video for the crew, “Spriggy Jiggy”, a pop-infused dance song telling you to not be a “lazycake”. Of course, what good would a promotion be if they didn’t offer free cupcakes for the first lucky viewers of this video. Simply by repeating a specific lyric at the South Congress and Burnet Road locations were they able to receive the cake of their choice until supplies ran out.
Along with the launch of the crew’s web series, Hey Cupcake! also launched a line of apparel and merchandise featuring each member of the Cupcake Crew along with their own stickers, buttons and keychains. So fans can now get their own KittyCake onesie for their baby.
Along with each character profile, Hey Cupcake! also reveals the more philanthropic side to this promotion. For each sale of merchandise, 5% of net proceeds will go towards each individual character’s favorite local charity, including Austin Pets Alive! and the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Central and South Texas.
For the moment, viewers can watch the “Spriggy Jiggy” music video along with two other videos, “The Social Cakework” and “The Blockbuster Trailer”. It seems that this local chain of food trailers is fully committed to this new medium of promoting cupcakes.
