Buzzy Opening
Austin bar veterans announce buzzworthy new joint in 78704
South Austin will get a new watering hole that specializes in early morning and late-night buzzes when Stonehouse Coffee + Bar opens this winter.
The concept, slated for 1105 South Lamar Blvd. (next to Gibson Street Bar), comes from the team behind Gibson, Mean Eyed Cat, Rattle Inn, Star Bar, The Wheel, and many more. Several partners are also involved in the newly revamped Lala's Little Nugget and neighboring Stubb's Bar-B-Q in Crestview.
Mirroring the laid-back aesthetic of its sisters projects, Stonehouse will be located inside a quaint stone building. Michael Hsu Office of Architecture is handling a renovation of the already homey space, which was built in 1900.
"In a time when so much of Austin is being re-envisioned, Stonehouse Coffee + Bar seeks to honor the early history of the city," says partner Matt Luckie in a release. "Stonehouse is a fresh and modern concept that fits nicely within the walls of this unique, historical building."
Stonehouse will be open 7 am to 2 am daily. The spot will serve craft beer and wine, as well as local Cuvee Coffee. Pastries and gelato will be complemented by savory options from a food truck outside.
The concept will debut this winter.
