Swooning for Sway
Popular Austin Thai restaurant cooks up new locations across the city

South Austin's Thai fever is spreading. Sway announced Wednesday that it has not one, but two new locations in the works for North and West Austin.
One will be nestled in West Lake Hills while the other will snag a seat at the Rock Rose development in The Domain. Both are slated to open mid-to-late 2016. The Rock Rose locale will join other local heavy hitters such as East Side King and Salvation Pizza, while Sway's west side location will take over the former Thai Kitchen on Bee Cave Road.
"The first three years at Sway have exceeded our expectations," Sway co-founder and New Waterloo partner Jesse Herman said in a release. "We're very excited for Sway to expand into a couple of our favorite parts of Austin."
Sway's modern Thai concept opened under Chef Rene Ortiz, now of Launderette. The restaurant was later helmed by Alexis Chong before the reigns were passed on to Scotty Szekretar, Sway's current executive chef.
For those concerned that Sway might pull a Barley Swine and leave South Austin, don't worry: The original location will continue serving delicious curries, noodles, and Australian-style Thai cooking on South First Street.
