Buzzworthy Austin brewery and beer garden sets opening date

One of the most buzzworthy new breweries in Austin finally has an opening date. St. Elmo Brewing Company will open to the public in mid-November and host a grand opening celebration on Saturday, December 3.

South Austin's newest craft beer destination will feature an outdoor beer garden, indoor taproom, and 15-barrel brewing system. The brewery is the brainchild of Austin Beerworks alums Tim Bullock and Bryan Winslow.

"It's been a long, amazing road, and we can't believe the day to open our brewery is finally here. For two dudes who love beer, this brewery is our opportunity to surprise the Austin beer community with new brew styles and recipes that engage the community," said Bullock in a statement.

St. Elmo's brews will be available exclusively at the brewery. The year-round lineup includes the Chico pale ale, Angus dry stout, and Carl kolsch. Bullock and Winslow plan to brew rotating beers as well, including an American IPA, German IPA, and hefe-barley at opening.

Beer won't be the only thing on tap: The brewery will also offer coffee and house-made soda and mineral water. Dishes from onsite food truck Soursop will pair St. Elmo originals with Southeast Asian-inspired fare from chef/owner Teddy Bricker.

"In addition to continually brewing new beers, we're also planning to host a variety of events that include music, storytelling, and brewer panels. The opportunities to support Austin's creative community are endless, and we're thrilled to participate," said Bullock.

This is the first business to debut at The Yard, a new mixed-use development for creatives located near the upcoming Saint Elmo Market District. The December 3 grand opening party starts at 11 am and will feature live music and a celebratory menu from Soursop.

Hours for St. Elmo Brewing Company and Soursop are Tuesday through Thursday, 4 to 11 pm; Friday, 4 pm to midnight; Saturday, 11 am to midnight; and Sunday, noon to 10 pm.
