Austin tavern hosts elevated supper club to fund culinary grants

Murray's Tavern elevates pub food and atmosphere in East Austin.

Texas Food & Wine Alliance’s beloved Off The Menu Supper Club returns for the first time in 2026 on Thursday, February 19, hosting its latest installment at Murray’s Tavern in East Austin. The series isn’t a frequent affair — the last dinner took place in August — and the rarity is part of its appeal.

Presented by H-E-B, the Off The Menu Supper Club is designed to spotlight some of the state’s most exciting chefs, inviting them to create one-night-only menus that step outside the boundaries of their usual offerings.

Guests will be treated to a four-course experience curated by Chef Nic Yanes, beginning with a Tito’s Vodka Martini Bar to welcome diners, then thoughtful pairings with curated wines. Tickets are $150, with $50 from every ticket sold supporting the Alliance's culinary grants program.

Murray’s Tavern was opened by Nic Yanes of the acclaimed Northern Italian restaurant Juniper and Travis Tober of the always-popular bar Nickel City in 2023, replacing previous neighborhood staple Gourmand's Neighborhood Pub. It has earned a reputation as one of Austin’s most compelling new hangouts. It’s the kind of place that feels tailor-made for a supper club: warm, welcoming, and rooted in community.

Aside from Murray's and Juniper, Yanes is the owner of the casual Italian café Uncle Nicky's, and before that was chef and creative director at Uchi. Though this event will take place at only one of Yanes' restaurants, it gives him the freedom to push beyond the expected, offering guests a glimpse of his culinary range in an intimate setting.

The Texas Food & Wine Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering awareness, education, and innovation in the state’s culinary communities, uses events like this to fuel its grant programs and champion the people in local hospitality. Culinary grants in 2025 went to Rosen's Bagel Co. and Casey's New Orleans Snowballs in Austin and Three Six General in San Marcos, plus other businesses elsewhere in Texas.

Popular health food restaurant The Well to open Bouldin Creek location

The Well is opening its fourth location.

Austin loves a health-conscious restaurant, and The Well's fourth location is proof. The new restaurant is opening at 409 W. Monroe St. in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood this spring.

The Well, part of Nova Hospitality, first opened in 2020, opening more locations at a fast clip since then. It's become known for its dietary accommodations, ensuring that most, if not all Austin diners can enjoy a meal out in a chic setting. The kitchen is completely gluten-free, and only uses olive, coconut, and avocado oils. The menu also excises dairy, soy, refined sugar, and GMOs (a very broad label).

Some offerings are a fun flourish more than a dietary need, including some wellness shots and specialty drinks. The Well also serves coffee, smoothies, alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, and more.

On the meatier side, guests can look forward to grass-fed Texas Wagyu steak frites with chimichurri pesto, sustainably-sourced fish, pecan chicken salad sandwich made with pasture-raised poultry, and overnight-simmered bone broth.

"There is nothing better than watching someone experience The Well for the first time — that moment when they realize food that's good for you can also be the best thing they've eaten all week," said managing partner Nicole Pfromm in the press release. "Bouldin is full of people who care deeply about what they eat and how they gather, and I cannot wait to meet them at the table."

The roughly 3,000-square-foot space fits 85 seats inside, a 24-person dining room, and an outdoor dining area. It was all designed by Rituals Creative Studio, which also worked on Devil May Care and TenTen, two other concepts under Nova Hospitality.

"Bouldin Creek is a wonderful Austin neighborhood that has held onto its character and sense of community for decades," said VP of restaurants and development at Nova, Jon Oh, in a press release. "Residents are thoughtful, locally-minded, and deeply connected to where they live and that's something we have enormous respect for."

The Well Bouldin will be open daily from 8 am to 9 pm. Weekend brunch will be available Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 3 pm. Catering is available, and the full menu can be delivered via major third-party services.
