Austin Lyric Opera Chairman Jo Anne Christian, one of the most influential cultural leaders in Austin, doesn’t attend just any old party. Wednesday night she not only attended but was also one of the hosts of CultureMap Austin’s pre-launch event at Parkside downtown.
In an effort to garner support before its Monday launch, CultureMap Austin welcomed major cultural players including leaders from The Blanton Museum of Art, C3 Presents, and The Texas Tribune.
Among the hosts, organized by CultureMap supporter Bill Miller of HillCo Partners, were Pulitzer Prize Winner Larry Wright, Mayor Pro Tem Mike Martinez, and KLRU CEO Bill Stotesbery. They brought some good friends along with them including C3 Presents founder Charlie Jones and Texas Tribune CEO and Editor in Chief Evan Smith.
While the abundance of chatter made it hard to hear, it was easy to see the support and excitement surrounding CultureMap’s expansion into Austin from the leaders of various organizations in attendance.
