Lively Music Scene
Austin's hippest band together for AMP's first-ever United We Jam music benefit
Although Austin City Limits, Fun Fun Fun Fest and the dozen or so other festivals bring big-name musical acts to our local stages (remember when Paul McCartney came y'all?), we're lucky enough to live in a town with hundreds of talented local musicians.
This past weekend, those musicians came out in support of Austin Music People's first-ever United We Jam, an Austin-only music festival benefiting local talent. Every dollar went directly to AMP, the trade association and advocacy group for Austin's $1.6 billion music industry.
Cover charges maxed out at $5, and Austinites moseyed up and down Red River before heading over to the East Side to hit up places like the Scoot Inn, Hotel Vegas and Cheer Up Charlie's. The music was as varied as the venues, ranging from punk to bluegrass.
So, in case you had one Two Step too many at the White Horse, CultureMap was there to capture all the bands — and fans— who came out to celebrate our city's lively music scene.
