Sizzling Sunset Sounds
CultureMap pops into downtown Austin hotel for swanky sunset affair
As the sun set over Austin on August 24, music fans descended on the Fairmont Austin for Sunset Sounds. CultureMap, along with Tito’s Vodka and Mix 94.7, invited locals to soak up the last moments of summer with a live music showcase of Austin talent, all benefitting nonprofit Kids in a New Groove.
The event began with a special hour of mingling and cocktails as the sun faded against the skyline. Opening act Zach Person and the Reissue set the tone for the evening as the venue’s indoor seats filled. While the music played, guests struck poses with fun props in the #frostitforward photo booth provided by CultureMap and Frost Bank. Hungry attendees got to eat their fill of grilled fare including hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, and bratwurst sausage while they watched the show via livestream on the outdoor deck.
In partnership with Frost Bank, CultureMap's street team even upgraded a few surprised concertgoers with a special VIP experience complete with table service from Tito's and seating for the show.
Other guests received Frost cash cards along with a request: spend the money on someone else. The pop-up is the third in a series of surprise events CultureMap is hosting as part of Frost's new campaign, Opt for Optimism.
Headliners Bright Light Social Hour ended the evening with an electric set. Swag bags stocked with Tito’s Vodka, Mix 94.7 gear, and other local merch were handed off as guests took to the elevators at the night’s end, and a few lucky Sunset Sound attendees even turned the evening into a staycation weekend at the Fairmont Austin.
The event was the latest installment in Frost's Opt for Optimism series, with a new event is scheduled each month through the end of 2018.
