Lit Crawl Blow Out
Lit Crawl's East Side party mixes literary superstars and Austin creatives
The country's literati and Austin's hipsterati converged Saturday night at the official Lit Crawl after party hosted at Public School on East 7th Street. Sponsored by local press A Strange Object, the party was a chance for visiting authors, Texas Book Festival moderators, participants and fans to celebrate another successful year of the famed literary fest.
Participants spent the evening "crawling" the East Side with such authors as R.L. Stine, Amy Brill, Cindy St. John and Mark Binelli. Literature fans watched Derek Waters, creator of Drunk History, act out plots from famous novels as told by drunk participants. Those wanting to show of their trivia skills went up against Reza Aslan in "Nerd Jeopardy" where the questions were all about pop culture and literature.
By 10 pm, the after-party kicked off with brews courtesy of Austin Beerworks and vodka by Dripping Springs. Jack Boulware (founder of Lit Crawl) hung out with folks like Ojii Ndibe, Heather Terrell, Meredith Barnes and Okey Ndibe. Held just a few days before Halloween, Katie Towne rocked a witch's hat while Ben Seanor wore some mouse ears. Kirsten Meehan, Ethan Wilensky-Lanford, Steph Opitz, Sara Ortiz and Paul W. Morris were also in attendance.
By midnight, the party ended with folks grooving on the dance floor, exchanging costume accessories and celebrating another year of Lit Crawl in the books.
