It's hard to go wrong when choosing a Hill Country winery to visit, but a few samples never hurt. Texas Hill Country Wineries (THCW), a nonprofit trade association, is packing up and bringing wines from 28 makers to the Austin Central Library on Friday, June 27, for its Austin Road Show.
Participating winemakers will bring more than 60 wines to represent their work. Each attendee will get a wine glass and 20 tasting tickets, which they can bring home later, plus charcuterie to space all those sips out.
Aside from tasting the wines, guests will get to know the people behind each operation. Owners, winemakers, and vineyard managers will stop by to show off their products and deliver news about their ongoing work.
Tickets ($60) are available at texashillcountrywineries.org.
The following wineries will participate:
- Ab Astris Winery
- Adega Vinho Winery
- Becker Vineyards
- Bending Branch Winery

Austinites may be familiar with THCW through its many events at its member wineries, including several annual "passports" that set visitors up with complimentary tastings. The next passport event is Barrels & Bites, from June 20-22, which is shorter than other events but offers a choice of "elevated" experiences: either a "behind-the-scenes barrel tasting" or food pairings.
In a press release about the road show, THCW also announces seven new member wineries: 12 Fires Winery & Vineyard, Adega Vinho Winery, Pebble Rock Cellars, Signor Vineyards, La Vie Estate Winery, Siboney Cellars & Michael Ros Winery. That makes 69 members overall.
The Austin Road Show runs from 5:30-8 pm at the Austin Central Library Special Events Center (710 W Cesar Chavez St.).
