Longhorns and horsepower: Red Bull releases Formula 1 video shot in Austin andCentral Texas
A screaming Formula 1 race car flies out of a ranch barn, taking off on an incredible ride along the dirt roads of the Texas Hill country and into Austin before finally making the first lap around the Circuit of the Americas U.S. Grand Prix course.
Red Bull Racing just released the video they shot in Austin last month at the U.S. Grand Prix kick-off event. The video promotes the November 18th race, showing off Texas to the international racing community. CultureMap covered the story as Red Bull filmed the spot downtown.
Whether you love racing or not, the video is a beautifully shot, tightly edited tour of of Central Texas that's worth taking a look at—and you might find yourself wanting just a little bit more of this Formula 1 thing.
Former F1 driver and current BBC commentator David Coulthard abused the million dollar machine, throwing down donuts and flying across unpaved roads. He also got to be the first driver to run an F1 car around the 3.4 mile long Austin track, which is cut out but still unpaved dirt.
As construction continues on site, the Circuit of the Americas announced they would also host a 2013 MotoGP event at the track. MotoGP is the elite international Motorcycle Grand Prix racing circuit, which has two other races in the U.S. and more than a dozen more around the world.
