New nonstop flight from Austin to London takes off with cheap fares
Your next trip across the pond could be much cheaper. On Wednesday, July 5, low-cost carrier Norwegian announced a new nonstop flight from Austin to London that won't break the bank.
Service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Gatwick Airport begins March 27, 2018, and prices for a one-way ticket start at only $308. Flights will be offered three times a week on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which comes equipped with economy and premium seating, as well as in-flight entertainment for all.
The airline aims to "break the current European monopoly on flights to Austin." Norwegian will compete with ABIA's only other nonstop service to London: British Airways' daily service to Heathrow Airport, which is significantly pricier.
"Austin has also become a major hub for leisure and business travel, so we are delighted to offer passengers more choice and lower fares," says Norwegian CEO Bjorn Kjos in a release.
Austin is one of Norwegian's 13 nonstop destinations from Gatwick. The airline is celebrating its third anniversary of offering "low-cost long-haul" service from London.
