Willie Nelson's famous Luck Reunion and Potluck are coming back for 2025, with a long and diverse lineup of musicians and chefs. Willie Nelson himselfwill be taking the stage at the Potluck on March 12, followed by Austin's own Shane Smith & The Saints and Charley Crockett on March 13, plus Waxahatchee and Lucinda Williams on March 14, and many others in between.
This is the 13th annual Luck Reunion, held on Nelson's Luck Ranch in Spicewood, about 45 minutes from the center of Austin. The Reunion is a way to utilize the old Western town originally built as a set for the Red Headed Stranger film, and now brings together a large and always evolving group of creatives. The focus is mostly on the music, but the borders are soft — the festival has even featured activist talks and local crafts. The main event takes place March 13.
As a warm-up the day before the Reunion, there's the Potluck, which welcomes local chefs for a family-style dinner and raises funds for the Luck Family Foundation to distribute to Farm Aid and The Texas Food And Wine Alliance.
The day after the Reunion, a wrap up show that could be its own festival features Waxahatchee & Friends and Lucinda Williams & Her Band, plus special guests Futurebirds, Bill Callahan, Kam Franklin, Brennan Wedl, and more.
Like South by Southwest (SXSW), which will be happening nearby at the same time, this much smaller festival is presented in programming blocks. There's a group of artists selected by performing rights organization BMI, a group representing Fort Worth, and a group of up-and-comers curated by Southwest Airlines; the latter platforms Luke Tyler Shelton, Improvement Movement, and Marlon Funaki as new additions to "the Luck family."
From various portions of the Reunion lineup (listed below), other notable acts to look out for include the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Julien Baker & Torres, and Taj Mahal. There will also be some surprise guests — the announcement gives no clues as to who they are.
Taking care of the culinary side will be Chef Ambassador Michael Fojtasek, best known for his Austin restaurant Olamaie and multiple James Beard Award nominations, plus visiting chefs Ed Lee (The Mind of a Chef, Nami), Erik Bruner-Yang (Maketto & Providencia), Cheetie Kumar (Ajja), and more.
“We are beyond excited to welcome our Luck Family back home to Willie’s backyard for another incredible year with this ever more important community” said Matt Bizer, CEO and Founder of Luck Presents, in the release. “Community is the theme, and this year’s event is something we are really proud of. We are welcoming back many long-time Luck Family members, some new artists we cannot stop listening to, and more than one surprise guest!”
Because of the huge demand on tickets, getting them is a bit complicated. Popular Austin acts Walker Lukens & The Future Former In-Laws and Disko Cowboy will be performing at an event called Lucky Draw Live where fans can win the chance to buy Reunion tickets on February 15th at the Yeti Flagship Store. This is the main sales channel. There will also be more opportunities to buy announced via social media and email. More information is available at luckpresents.com.
Tickets for the Potluck go on sale at noon on February 20 via Etix, and tickets for the Waxahatchee and Lucinda Williams show are available now, also through Etix.
