HAAM Corporate Battle of the Bands raises awareness for Austin's music legacy
Friday, April 26 saw the return of HAAM’s Corporate Battle of the Bands at Antone’s. The sixth annual competition featured local companies boasting hard-rocking, guitar-shredding in-house bands. Employees from H-E-B, Cirrus Logic and others took to the Antone's stage for their shot at rock ‘n roll glory, helping Austin’s full-time musicians at the same time.
Bands were judged by celebrities Rock 'N Roll Hall of Famer Ian McLagan, The Go-gos' Kathy Valentine and KVUE's Quita Culpepper.
Winners of 2013 Corporate Battle of the Bands are:
- Best Cover — Atomic Large Band (intel)
- Best Original — Knuckle Sammich (H-E-B)
- Fan Favorite — Superhet (Cirrus Logic)
- Grand Prize — The Slakes (HomeAway)
As part of the grand prize, The Slakes will receive recording time at Bismeaux Studio for an extra shot at living the life of made musicians. Fan Favorite Superhet will have the chance to play an indoor gig at Stubb’s.
Proceeds from HAAM's Corporate Battle of the Bands will benefit HAAM's efforts to assist low-income, uninsured musicians living in Austin.
