Runway Recap
Hot looks from Austin Fashion Week's first runway shows
The first two nights of Austin Fashion Week's runway shows offered an impressive look at local and international designers.
Nine designers from across the country were featured on Wednesday night. Some designs were questionable in how fashion-forward they actually were (Native American headdresses and tropical print resort wear, anyone?), but there were some pleasant surprises. Crowned Bird debuted a new collection for the second year in a row at AFW, showing off the "kawaii" designs filled with unique prints and bright colors. Mysterious NPN showed off darker and elegant evening wear designs.
Thursday's show focused mainly on womenswear and ended with the new menswear line from local designer Ross Bennett. The most impressive and innovative designs came from the line G.I.A.N. out of Honduras, which featured geometric, futuristic cuts. Local line S.T.E.F. also showed off a new line of sustainable and ethical clothing that was simple, yet chic.
The fun continues with Friday night's Project Runway Designer All Stars show.
