Burritos on Wheels
Popular burrito chain rolls out first-ever food truck in Austin
An Austin-based chain is getting into the food truck game: Freebirds World Burrito is debuting a new food truck concept this weekend at the Lone Star Jam on May 7 and 8.
Known for its build-your-own burrito business model, Freebirds also offers a variety of tacos, quesadillas, and salads — all of which will be available at the truck. The food truck menu will also be adaptable for catering a wide variety of special events.
"We are very excited to launch this new phase in Freebirds' expansion and rebranding," said President and COO Bobby Shaw in a release. "It gives us the opportunity to bring Freebirds where it has never been before and introduce the brand to an entirely new audience."
Headquartered in Austin, the company initially launched in California almost 30 years ago with customizable tortilla-wrapped goodness. Now, Freebirds has expanded to 100 locations in seven different states.
After its Austin debut, the Freebirds food truck — yes, there's only one — will go on a nationwide burrito tour to promote new store openings. You can follow the food truck's whereabouts here.
