Glamour Bingo for a Good Cause
PlayBingo Ladies Luncheon raises money for Austin kids with sparkling glamour and Parisian fun
Pink boas, colorful hats and champagne were abundant Saturday in the grand ballroom of Austin’s downtown Hilton at the glamorous and fun PlayBingo Ladies Luncheon event presented by Lexus of Austin. Now in its 10th year, the event brings together friends and supporters to raise money for the Center for Child Protection while offering a chance to compete in a contest near and dear to all: Bingo.
Paris was the theme for this year’s luncheon, emceed by KXAN’s Jim Spencer and Lexus of Austin’s Cassie LaMere. Many of the sold-out event’s 800 guests sipped on champagne and mimosas and bid on more than 170 auction packages featuring sparkly jewels, designer handbags and theater tickets before being seated for lunch and some rousing rounds of Bingo.
Their tables carried out the day’s theme beautifully with light-pink touches, Eiffel Tower miniatures, gray crystal and sterling silver bracelets hand-strung by volunteers and luxurious soaps from MOR Cosmetics. Eight lucky Bingo winners took home fabulous prizes, including spa packages and jewelry, donated by The Domain, David Yurman, Michael Kors, Mirror Mirror Salon, Neiman Marcus, The Boutique on Stonelake, Spa Revéil, The Westin Austin and Urban: An American Grill.
The PlayBingo Ladies Luncheon, which raised more than $280,000 this year, is hosted by the Friends of Christopher Guild. Formed in 1998 by concerned women and mothers, the Friends of Christopher Guild is committed to sustaining and expanding the safety net for abused children in Travis County through support of the Center for Child Protection.
