Local food trucks 'taste-off' this week during Truck by Truckwest
This week, local food trailers are "tasting off" the 2nd annual Truck by Truckwest. The 6-day rolling "taste-off" pits local food trucks against each other as they compete for customer votes and a $10,000 prize.
From October 21 through October 26, Austinites are encouraged to get out of the house — and out of the kitchen — to try food from some of the best food trucks in town. Hey, You Gonna Eat or What? and Mellizoz Tacos (who claimed top spots last year) are participating again this year, along with Holy Cacao, Ms. P's Electric Cock, Spartan Pizza, Chaat Stop, Conscious Cravings and many more Austin faves.
To get involved, all you have to do is purchase a TXTW wristband, then grab your sense of gastro-adventure. Traveling between food trucks will be easy because each day of TXTW is broken up by a particular Austin region or trailer park. Once you arrive at the day's designated location, check in at the food truck using the Byte app and get your free sample.
At the end of the week, TXTW wristband holders will vote for their favorite food truck. The truck that gets the most votes overall will get the bragging rights and the $10,000.
It's not too late to get involved if your stomach is rumbling for food truck fare. Grab a wristband online (the price started at $40, but drops each day) and start tasting.
A portion of the wristband sales will go to Keep Austin Fed, a nonprofit organization that helps distribute food to various Austin charities feeding those in need.
