Thursday, December 13
Tapestry Dance Company presents Of Mice and Music: A Jazz Tap Nutcracker
Holiday classic The Nutcracker is reimagined with fancy footwork at The Long Center for the Performing Arts. Audiences can enjoy the traditional holiday tale with second act solo by Tapestry Artistic director/National Tap Hall of Famer Acia Gray. Tchaikovsky’s original score is jazzed up and performed live by some of Austin’s finest musicians. Performances through December 23.
Paramount Theatre presents The Moth
Storytelling and performance art combine at this intimate gathering featuring real, often extraordinary tales. Paramount Theatre hosts The Moth Mainstage featuring stories shared by scholars, scientists, a voodoo priestess, a retired NYPD detective, and undertaker, among others. Each show is carefully developed to ensure the audience enjoys a unique and immersive experience.
Saturday, December 15
Red Bull Music presents “Equal Axis”
Red Bull Music brings a dynamic, multi-sensory experience fusing art, live entertainment, and DJ sets to Austin. ”Equal Axis” highlights include three-dimensional art installations and performances by Austin-area dancers, drag queens, and aerialists. United Kingdom-based DJ Maya Jane Coles makes her Texas debut as one of the evening’s acts. Tickets are still available.
Jason Mraz in concert with Toca Rivera and Gregory Page
Singer Jason Mraz performs an acoustic set live at the Bass Concert Hall. Known for hit songs including “I’m Yours” and “The Remedy,” the artist comes to Austin in support of his new album, Know. Fellow artists Toca Rivera and Gregory Page join Mraz for the evening performance. Select tickets available.
Brian Wilson in concert
Brian Wilson and his band of musicians perform their hit Christmas Album in its entirety at ACL Live at the Moody Theater for the first time this holiday season. Wilson is joined by special guests Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin for even more festive cheer. Fans can also enjoy cuts from Wilson’s solo Christmas album, What I Really Want for Christmas, and other iconic favorites during the jolly jubilee.
