Tonight! Pete Holmes presents two final shows at Cap. City Comedy
You know Pete Holmes; the comic, whose 2011 album Impregnated With Wonderappeared on the A.V. Club's annual best-of list, also voices the e*trade baby and has made appearances on Comedy Central Presents, Jimmy Fallon and VH1. He's also a cartoonist for The New Yorker, and a writer on FOX's "I Hate My Teenage Daughter," among many other things.
CultureMap contrib Brendan K. O'Grady (over at his Comedy Albums Club blog) says that it's "impossible not to appreciate how well-written and clearly-honed Holmes' observational riffs and flights of fancy are"; Holmes' brilliant material, coupled with his onstage energy — unwaveringly energetic, punctuated with giggling fits and perfectly subtle impersonations — makes for a sincerely unmissable show.
Also unmissable: His podcast, You Made It Weird, which interviews comics about their careers and the weirdest (natch) things they've encountered on the way; on it, Holmes has talked to people like CollegeHumor's Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld, one half of The Indoor Kids podcast Emily Gordon, The League's Nick Kroll, Family Guy writer Alec Sulkin and sad uncle Dave Coulier.
He's has been in town all week with shows at Cap. City Comedy, and you've got two more chances to see him tonight — at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. — with Bob Khosravi and Danny Palumbo.
(In case you can't make it, don't worry — Holmes will be back in town March 13 for SXSW Comedy, where he'll be recording a live episode of You Made It Weird.)
