Amplify Austin
Austin's biggest fundraiser returns with bold new goal — $9 million in 24 hours
Amplify Austin is back with a bold new goal for 2016: raise $9 million for Austin nonprofits in only 24 hours. The online fundraiser spearheaded by I Live Here, I Give Here kicks off at 6 pm on March 8.
Now in its fourth year, Amplify Austin has already raised more than $16.2 million for the community, including a record-breaking $7.7 million in 2015.
During the day-long event, organizations seek donations, host fun watch parties, and some partner with companies to match individual donations. Once again, the St. David's Foundation has generously donated $1 million before Amplify Austin even begins. The wide spectrum of participating nonprofits — 612 this year — ranges from Austin Pets Alive! to Zach Theatre.
You can schedule donations online before the fundraiser begins or donate any time between 6 pm on March 8 and 6 pm on March 9. Amplify Austin suggests a minimum donation of $25, but donations as small as $10 are accepted. Bonus? All donations are tax deductible.
Want to do more than donate? Some of our favorite nonprofits will be hosting special happy hours to kick off the annual event. On Tuesday, you can support Texas Land Conservancy at Rattle Inn, Big Medium at Gourmands, GirlForward Austin at Uncle Billy's Smokehouse & Brewery, and Austin Humane Society at Dogwood Rock Rose. And that's just a taste of all of the events lined up.
