Austin police investigating body found near Zilker Park as homicide

Austin police are investigating a homicide after a dead body was found just west of Zilker Park on Thursday, March 26, according to a department release.
At 7:19 pm, 9-1-1 received a call that reported a man lying in the middle of Arnulfo Alonso Way (formerly Zilker Clubhouse Road). The caller reported that the man had obvious injuries and was not breathing. Austin police, fire, and EMS responded to the call and attempted to render aid, but could not revive the victim. He was pronounced dead at 7:30 pm.
The victim is described as a 24-year-old white man. He is not being identified until his next of kin can be notified. It's the city's 13th homicide this year.
After being pronounced dead, APD homicide detectives and crime scene personnel arrived to process the scene and, according to police, the Travis County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on March 27.
The investigation is still ongoing, and APD is urging anyone with information to video or information about this incident to call APD Homicide at 512-974-TIPS.
