Party Time! Excellent!
Playboy solidifies UT's reputation as one of the top party schools in America
Partying is pretty much part of the curriculum at the University of Texas at Austin. Longhorns come in with prerequisites in pre-gaming and leave with top honors in tailgating — and perhaps a minor in Austin nightlife.
Now the Longhorn reputation has graduated cum laude. Playboy just named UT as the No. 6 party school in the nation, moving up three slots from last year's No. 9 title.
The iconic magazine pays homage to party staples like South By Southwest and Dirty Sixth, but this year a new neighborhood gets a nod. "While Sixth Street is still the standby for the young and rowdy, Rainey Street is the go-to for upperclassmen. You'll find UT's finest along a row of historic homes now converted into the city's coolest bars and cocktail lounges," says Playboy, confirming our suspicion that Rainey Street has become a mecca for burnt-orange bros and sorority sisters.
Playboy also reminds us that toplessness is legal in our city, perhaps providing us with a new motto: "Austin: the right to bear arms and the right to bare it all."
