Frost It Forward
Watch how a simple gift helps grow the nonprofit that's nourishing Austin
A great foundation starts with a healthy diet, but not everyone has access to fresh food. Lifestyle blogger Natalie Paramore has partnered with Urban Roots, the only farm-based youth organization in Austin, to help make sure her community is eating well.
As Urban Roots' development director Emily Mares explains, youth ages 14-23 learn leadership skills while working the farm's 3.5 acres. They produce 25,000 pounds of food every year, 40 percent of which is donated to local food banks and food pantries.
Paramore is a Frost Bank community partner and is using her $100 Frost cash card to #frostitforward to Urban Roots. It's part of Frost's Opt For Optimism campaign, which encourages small acts of kindness that lead to a big impact in your community.
CultureMap is on board with that, so we've created a Charity Guide and an editorial series that highlights those who are giving back. We're also turning the spotlight on locals who are fostering generosity, building community, and changing perspectives.
Show how you're spreading optimism by tagging CultureMap Austin on Instagram and using the hashtag #frostitforward, and you could win some cool swag.
