Picnic Pop-up
Popular spring event pops up to celebrate Waller Creek
Waller Creek Picnic is back for its fifth year. The free, family-friendly affair takes over Palm Park on April 8 with live tunes, tasty eats, and community fun.
"The annual Waller Creek Pop-Up Picnic has become an Austin favorite. It's a time for us to celebrate the future of the Waller Creek Park district with our friends and neighbors," says Bryan Rubio, chief development officer for the conservancy, in a release.
The idea is simple. Austin's top restaurants create tasty picnic spreads, ranging from hearty sandwiches to eclectic snack packs, as well as kids' plates, vegan eats, and wine pairings. Guests are also welcome to pack their own picnic fare, but you can feel good about splurging on a basket too. Proceeds benefit the Waller Creek Conservancy and its mission to transform the downtown corridor with 37 acres of trails and green space.
Baskets are now on sale, with dinners for two starting at $40. For $250 you can upgrade to the Park Friends Forever package, which includes valet parking, limited edition swag, and other surprises.
