Million Dollar casting call to rock Austin
If your lip has a natural quiver, your body a natural swagger or you have fire in your fingertips when it comes to playing piano, here’s your chance to don the blue suede shoes of a music legend. Million Dollar Quartet, a new musical based on the magic made by four music icons — Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins — is holding an open casting call in Austin on Wednesday, June 27.
The auditions are for future replacements and understudies for the Chicago and touring productions of the musical about a once in lifetime 1956 recording session at Sun Record Studios in Memphis involving The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, The Man in Black, The Killer and The King of Rockabilly.
If you look like, sound like, play like or have the charisma of one of the four rock ‘n’ roll hall of famers, you’re invited to prepare one of the songs they made famous and perform it during the open audition. You must be able to accompany yourself on acoustic or electric guitar or piano. Bring your own guitar there will be a piano on site.
Acting experience is not required but it would give you a leg up if you can shake it like The King or croon like Cash.
Head on down to the Long Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, June 27 from 11a.m. to 3p.m. For more information, go to the Million Dollar Quartet website or you can send specific questions to the casting agents.
Performances of Million Dollar Quartet will rock Bass Concert Hall April 9-14, 2013.
Thank you, thank you very much.
