Grupo Fantasma playing for free at the Long Center Labor Day weekend
Start working out that hip because you'll be shakin' it this Labor Day weekend.
The Long Center today announced the first of three free outdoor concerts this coming season. Grammy Award winning, Austin-based Latin funk orchestra Grupo Fantasma, will kick things off on Sunday, September 4 at 7pm.
This is the inaugural year for the Terrace Concert Series, a gift from supporters of the Long Center to Austin music fans. “The Long Center welcomes the Austin community to the doorsteps of Austin’s Creative Home, with its spectacular view of downtown Austin, to enjoy good food, cold drinks and great music,” said Paul Beutel, Managing Director.
The Terrace Concert Series will take place on the Long Center City Terrace located at 701 West Riverside Drive at South First Street.
CultureMap Austin is proud to be the Exclusive Digital Media Sponsor for the concert and you are guaranteed to find us on the dance floor....yes, I did say dance floor!
You can bring food, lawn chairs and blankets but alcohol and pets are not allowed.
Food and drink will be available for purchase and $7 gets you a parking spot in the Palmer Event Center garage.
Upcoming Terrace Concert Series shows will feature the Marshall Ford Swing Band with guest Redd Volkaert on October 23, 2011 and the Austin Symphony Big Band on April 13, 2012.
