Mondo Mystery Movie
Mondo promises an unforgettable Mystery Movie for Halloween weekend
Mondo, the collectible art boutique of the Alamo Drafthouse, has announced the date of their final Mondo Mystery Movie show of 2011. On Saturday, October 29th, the Drafthouse will play host to a mystery screening that will also provide as the premiere of the latest work of movie poster art courtesy of any one of the stable of Mondo’s graphic designers and artists.
Want to get in on this special screening that creative director Justin Ishmael promises to be a night to be remembered? Well make sure you have some extra funds on hand and stay glued to your computer today. Tickets will go on sale today (as in October 10th, just to be clear) at 2 p.m. CST with an announcement coming through the Mondo's Twitter feed and blog. Since these tickets are for a special event and include the price of the posters, they will run at a higher price compared to your run-of-the-mill Drafthouse feature.
For a regular ticket that receives only one variant of the poster, the price will run $75, while a ticket that will include both variants of the poster will hover around $200. So keep in mind that this special film series is intended more for fans of the art of both the film medium and movie posters.
Keep in mind that these posters are now becoming the most sought after movie collectibles amongst film geeks today. Mondo built together a collective of some of the most talented film poster artists, including Tyler Stout and Olly Moss among others. The work of Mondo and its artists have been so impressive, that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences worked out a deal to preserve all of Mondo’s works along with the Academy's collection of historic film artifacts.
So for all of the movie geeks out there who want to get their hands on a priceless and unique work of film memorabilia, you better act fast. Previous Mondo Mystery Movie screenings, such as Akira and Jurassic Park, have been the fastest advance sellouts in Drafthouse history. With a special Halloween release, who knows how quickly they’ll sell out this time.
