Fest Cancellation
Psychedelic Austin music festival unexpectedly pulls the plug for 2017
Sad news for psych fans: Levitation announced Friday that the popular music and camping festival will not return in 2017, as organizers are "taking a year off to relaunch in 2018."
"While this wasn't an easy decision to make, with more time we can present the best festival without compromises," reads the statement.
This has been a rough year for the homegrown fest. Levitation's 2016 plans were canceled in April, just one day before kickoff due to inclement weather. The three-day affair was scheduled to rock Carson Creek Ranch with big names like Brian Wilson, Animal Collective, and Flying Lotus.
Despite all the doom and gloom, Friday's announcement ends on an optimistic note: "We've had the privilege and honor for the last decade to host the psych community and our favorite artists, coming together from all over the world. We look forward to seeing you at Levitation 2018!"
