Austin's Levitation launches mini-festival for Halloween weekend

Levitation couldn't abandon its Halloween-lovers.
It's a Halloween miracle. Levitation, an alternative music festival that for five years was an easy pick for Austinites on Halloween weekend, announced in May that it would vacate its usual spooky dates this year in favor of a September schedule. However, the festival has just announced a new mini-fest to fill the void on October 31 and November 1.
Levitation Halloween Freakend features 12 more acts at the Far Out Lounge, an outdoor venue in South Austin. The weekend is presented in partnership with local promoter Resound Presents.
Headliners on Friday are Swedish punk band Viagra Boys and indie pop group Stereolab; headliners on Saturday are electronic duo Machine Girl, jazz debauchers Clown Core, and psych rock project Black Moth Super Rainbow (BMSR). Also of special interest to Austinites are scary-sexy performance art troupe J’cuuzi and experimental rap project Ha Ha Laughing, both local groups.
The full lineup is as follows:
FRIDAY
- Viagra Boys
- Stereolab
- The Black Lips
- Bitchin Bajas
- J’cuuzi
SATURDAY
- Machine Girl
- Clown Core
- BMSR
- Lightning Bolt
- Lip Critic
- Porcelain
- Ha Ha Laughing
Tickets are on sale as of July 1 at levitation.fm. Tickets can be purchased by day (starting at $69.24 including service fee for Friday, $51.17 for Saturday) or as a two-day pass (starting at $109.13 including service fee). The sale started with a presale for Levitation subscribers.
