New TV show Stupid Pet Tricks will visit Austin on a limited 5-city tour
A new TV show debuting on the TBS network is doing a sneak-peek preview tour, and it's coming to Austin.
Called The Stupid Pet Tricks Tour, it's a prelude to Stupid Pet Tricks, a new show hosted by actress-comedian Sarah Silverman, which will make its broadcast premiere on February 11.
The tour hits Austin on February 10, at Meanwhile Brewery.
The TV show concept will surely ring a bell for fans of Late Night With David Letterman, the late-night show on which the "Stupid Pet Tricks" skit first debuted. Now that skit has become a full-blown series.
A release calls it a half-hour variety show that reimagines the David Letterman segment, retaining the original charm, silly fun, and appreciation for the bond between humans and their animal friends. Infused with Silverman’s unique comedic spin, each episode will feature a parade of pets performing tricks.
It'll also be packed with celebrity guest stars bringing on their own pets, comedic bits, and games, including Jon Hamm, Will Ferrell, Judd Apatow, Howie Mandel, Jack McBrayer, Charlotte McKinney, Reggie Watts, Jeff Ross, and even the reclusive Letterman himself.
The tour will hit five cities in the U.S., giving pet owners an opportunity to showcase their #MyStupidPetTrick on the pink carpet, pose for pet-friendly photo ops, and receive special giveaways.
Pets can also audition for the show. TBS will select one trick a week to feature on-air in each episode.
The 2024 The Stupid Pet Tricks Tour is free, open to the public, and scheduled as follows
- February 3: Tampa 2-6 pm at Cigar City Brewing
- February 7: Dallas, 4-6 pm at Deep Ellum Brewing
- February 10: Austin, 2-6 pm at Meanwhile Brewery
- February 13: Longmont, Colorado, 4-8 pm at Oskar Blues Brewery
- February 17: Brevard, North Carolina, 2-6 pm at Oskar Blues Brewery
Event details are available at tbs.com/mystupidpettrick.
The series will premiere with a special multi-network sneak peek across TBS, Discovery, truTV, and Animal Planet on Sunday, February 11 at 4 pm CST, with an encore airing later that evening. New episodes will air on TBS every Monday at 8 pm Austin time, beginning February 12.
