Oh, Hai — New Fashion
Avant and awesome Austin designers Hai launch fall winter line at stylish Las Cruxes party
The wet chill that descended on the tail end of the East Austin Studio Tour failed to daunt art lovers, and as the Saturday tour segued into nighttime parties, it became merely a good excuse for the fashionable to don the adorable winter wear we so rarely get to show off around here.
At least, that was the case at Las Cruxes, where a sartorially artful crowd gathered for the reveal of Hai's Fall/Winter Collection. The brainchild of Austin designers Karen Sharky and Chrissy Paszalek, Hai is known for its avant and amazing sack dresses that consistently sell out when bestowed upon Las Cruxes. Veronica Ortuño's happening Eastside boutique, which shares the former Domy Books (RIP) space with Farewell Books on Cesar Chavez, is Hai's exclusive outlet.
At Saturday night's launch, Hai also unveiled an excellent linen blazer and lovely hand-knit tops. Partygoers surveying the goods were kept warm by plenty of tequila and the tunes DJ Samual Kklovvenhoof was spinning; the combination inevitably led to a lights-out dance party.
