We love Couch Potato Austin’s convenience store-to-your-door delivery
Whether from working too hard or getting too wasted, it’s happened to all of us: A snack attack hits, and we can’t make it out to the store.
Never fear, because delivery service Couch Potato Austin has your back.
Founded by former Maudie’s and Hopdoddy employees, the shop carries basic convenience store treats as well as more substantial fare, and they go the extra mile — literally — by bringing it straight to your door (in an adorable, colorful Smart Car, no less).
On a recent afternoon, eager for happy hour but bound to our laptops, the CultureMap staff made a game-changing discovery: In addition to their menu of local snacks (think Austinuts, Cornucopia and Buddha’s Brew), Tacodeli treats, breakfast cereals and aptly categorized “munchies,” Couch Potato’s also got a great drink selection.

From “Poor Boy’s Beer” (Lonestar, PBR, Keystone) and “Poor Girl’s Wine” (a box of Franzia) to local brews (Real Ale, St. Arnold, Hops & Grain and more), plus my favorite summer flavor, Abita Strawberry Harvest, they’ve got everything you need for an impromptu in-office party. If you’ve got something wilder in mind, they also offer ping pong balls and Solo cups. One stop shopping!
Within 20 minutes of placing an order online, a sixer of Shiner Ruby Redbird and a pack of Parliaments had materialized on my desk, like magic. (And oh, in case you’re wondering, they do check ID for alcohol and tobacco orders — so don’t even think about it, kids.)
Delivery’s free for orders over $20, with a $3 fee for those under. If you’re outside their 12 zip code delivery area, don’t worry — they now have an extended coverage area, with free delivery on purchases over $30 ($5 fee otherwise).
