Mimosa mania
Popular breakfast chain pops the cork on boozy brunch at 4 Austin-area locations
Drink up! The Austin area is gaining four more places to savor boozy brunches.
Effective January 17, the three Austin and Round Rock locations of breakfast, brunch, and lunch restaurant chain First Watch added a limited selection of cocktails to their menus. Of course, the booze lineup features a brunch staple — mimosas.
First Watch won’t let you get too carried away with your mimosa fix: It imposes a two-drinks-per-person limit.
University Park, Florida-based First Watch owns the two Austin restaurants at 14005 U.S. Hwy. 183 N. and 2525 W. Anderson Ln., as well as the Round Rock restaurant at 2701 Parker Dr.
One of the area’s two franchised First Watch locations, in Cedar Park, already serves adult beverages. That restaurant opened in 2019 at 1320 E. Whitestone Blvd. The other franchised location debuted January 13 at 1225 S. I-35 Frontage Rd. in Georgetown; it also will serve alcohol ... eventually.
“It looks like our Georgetown restaurant hit a little delay with the [liquor] license, so it will be holding off on introducing the cocktails for the first few days of business,” First Watch spokeswoman Eleni Kouvatsos says.
Houston-based Mak Haik Enterprises Ltd., led by auto dealer and former Houston Oilers wide receiver Mak Haik, owns the Cedar Park and Georgetown restaurants.
Aside from mimosas, the alcohol offerings include Bloody Marys, champagne, hard seltzer, and four signature cocktails.
