New location of Austin grain bowl restaurant springs into Rosedale
Though Austin excels at launching quick-service concepts like P. Terry’s Burger Stand and Flyrite Chicken, most of the big players have focused on comfort over health. That may soon change as locally owned eatery Honest Mary’s opens its second outpost at 4800 Burnet Rd. #C300.
According to a release, the anticipated Rosedale location will debut on January 22. Like the original Arboretum shop, it will focus on customizable grain bowls made with local vegetables and a variety of proteins.
Ingredients like hormone-free steak, non-GMO tofu, tri-colored quinoa, and Texas goat cheese allow customers to customize their meals. A menu of signature bowls, like the Aloha Poke with basmati rice, avocado, and Asian slaw or the seasonal Butternut Spice Bowl with French green lentils, lemony kale, and a green herb sauce, are also available.
Honest Mary’s commitment to local sourcing extends to the beverage selection, which features beloved Austin brands like Kosmic Kombucha, Cuvée Coffee, and Austin Beerworks. Guests can also quench their thirst with house-made aguas frescas like cucumber honey and hibiscus ginger.
Echoing the fresh focus of the bowls, Chioco Design has outfitted the former Blue Star Kitchen + Bar space with a mixture of natural materials like marble and wood. Since no Austin space is complete without outdoor seating, a cozy patio in front welcomes in the sun’s rays.
To celebrates its newest location, Honest Mary’s will be donating all profits from the Rosedale restaurant on January 22 to Fostering Hope Austin, a local nonprofit dedicated to building strong fostering and adoptive families through training and mentoring. First day guests are also encouraged to make donations to the organization through the inLieu app.
