Austin's most expensive margarita ever will cost you $30,000
An Austin Tex-Mex favorite is spicing things up with a pretty pricey margarita. For Valentine's Day, the Iron Cactus is offering a special margarita made with Patrón Platinum Tequila, Grand Marnier Centenaire, fresh lime juice and 100 percent organic agave nectar priced at $30,000.
Why the $30,000 price tag? The margarita comes garnished with a pair of diamond encrusted earrings — 260 diamonds weighing in at 3.75 carats, to be exact.
"We wanted to give our guests an opportunity to enjoy a unique, memorable, romantic Valentine's with their dates," General Partner Gary Manley, said in a press release. "Nothing says 'I love you' more to that special someone than sharing a delicious margarita with sparkling diamond earrings that your date can wear and take home."
The opulent earrings were designed by Austin-based jeweler Zoltan David. The sparkling adornments, known as the "Vision Earrings," lend their name to the pricey cocktail deemed "Vision for Valentine's Day." "These are the sexiest earrings I've ever seen on a woman," David said in the release.
Iron Cactus "Romance Expert" Rhyann Bull is on hand for anyone interested in viewing the earrings and planning a romantic Valentine's Day surprise. "If they would like to do the date at the restaurant, I would love to surprise them," says Bull of her dream date for the margarita couple. "We have great rooms at each of the locations — we do surprise parties all the time."
The deal is available now through February 14 at Iron Cactus' three Austin locations. The margarita is also available for purchase without the bling for $75. Bull raves, "It is by far the best margarita I've ever tasted."
In the spirit of giving back, Iron Cactus will donate $6,000 to Cheyanna's Champion's for Children, a Texas nonprofit that helps kids with undiagnosed or extremely rare medical conditions, for every $30,000 margarita sold.
