Good news for taco-crazed Austin: Veracruz All Natural is opening its first brick-and-mortar in the city this spring. The restaurant will be located near the intersection of Burnet Road and Research Boulevard.
The famous taco truck's brick-and-mortar opened in Round Rock around the same time last year. An Austin location was originally slated to open on the east side, but plans fell through.
"Our business is almost 10 years old, and it has been our dream since the beginning to have a brick-and-mortar restaurant in the city of Austin, the city that we love, and our dream is about to come true," reads an announcement on Facebook.
Details are forthcoming, but if the Round Rock location serves as a blueprint, we can expect a menu full of Veracruz All Natural favorites, including the mainstay migas breakfast taco — so tasty it's received nods from Texas Monthly, Food Network, and Bon Appétit — as well as fresh salsas, house-made tortillas, refreshing aguas frescas, and savory quesadillas. The team has also teased a full-service coffee bar courtesy of Machine Head Coffee, a local coffee truck.
Veracruz All Natural has experienced serious growth since launching in 2009. What began as a simple juice and smoothie operation by owners Maritza and Reyna Vasquez has evolved into a multi-trailer business with two outposts, one on the east side and one in South Austin, and the successful Round Rock restaurant.
The opening of Veracruz All Natural's North Austin restaurant is tentatively scheduled for May 20. Look for the restaurant at 9003 Waterford Centre Blvd.
