Worth a shot
Austin liquor chain rings in spring with hotly anticipated Dollar Sale deals
There are a few occurrences in life that no one looks forward to, like the return of tax season, the annual invasion of mosquitos, and anytime someone begins a conversation with “we need to talk.” But occasionally, the cosmos does us a solid — like when Twin Liquors rolls Dollar Sale to help us forget about all those other less fortunate moments.
The semiannual promotion returns February 28 through March 2 when the Austin-based chain applies deep discounts to hundreds of bottles at all of its 85-plus locations.
The sale works like this: Twin slashes the prices on hundreds of coveted wines, rare whiskies, and other libations to the lowest possible price, then adds a buck. Why a dollar? We don’t know, but a $20 Dollar Sale doesn’t quite provoke the same spirit of elation.
The biggest savings can be found on the whiskey aisle. Highlights this year include Talisker 10-year Scotch at $57.77, Makers Third Generation Barrel at $50.60, Wild Turkey Russel’s Reserve Single Barrel at $43.74, and Jameson Caskmates’ insanely delicious IPA edition at $26.17.
Those who get too frisky with whiskey can opt for gins like Seersucker and Fords, tequilas like Z tequila and Herradura Silver, and popular liqueurs like Campari or Aperol. Some exclusions do apply. Only bottles sized 750 milliliters are included, which bars most beers, and a few particularly precious spirits do not receive the discount.
As has become tradition, Twin is previewing the sale with a Facebook Live event at 7 pm on February 27, when customers can do a deep dive into specific prices and products. Otherwise, it's recommended to arrive before 10 am on February 28. Once the doors open, the most popular spirits are gobbled up swiftly.
Locals may want to go out of their way to hit up the Hancock and South Lamar Boulevard locations on the 28th. At both outposts, Deep Eddy Vodka has partnered with Twin to provide complimentary Bloody Marys and breakfast tacos to celebrate the beginning of the sale.
