Opening Alert
2 anticipated restaurant openings heat up Austin's Mueller district
The Mueller development is heating up with two more restaurant debuts. B.D. Riley's Irish Pub and Lick Honest Ice Creams have announced the opening of their new locations on Aldrich Street near The Thinkery and brand-new Alamo Draftouse.
Both eateries are housed on the ground level of a mixed-use development on Aldrich Street in front of Mueller Lake Park. Dubbed the Diamond Building, this 56,000-square-foot complex also includes two floors of office space.
According to a post on Facebook, B.D. Riley's new outpost is now serving. This makes for the second location in Austin behind the original Sixth Street spot, which has been a go-to for football and fish and chips.
After a successful soft opening on Friday, April 7, the pub is offering a limited menu from 11 am to midnight. The full lineup of delicious brunch and Irish classics like bangers and mash are coming soon.
Lick's debut will follow on Wednesday, April 19, making for the fourth location in Texas and third in Austin. Keeping in mind the store's proximity to The Thinkery, the 1,060-square-foot space will feature plenty of outdoor seating. Hours are also longer: 11:30 am to 10 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30 am to 11:30 pm Friday and Saturday.
To celebrate, the ice cream shop is offering free scoops between 7-10 pm. Proceeds from opening day will benefit Urban Roots and donations will be accepted at all Austin spots for the rest of the week.
"We've been dreaming of opening this location for over three years so this is really exciting for all of us. We can't wait to share our ice creams all of the amazing people that call Mueller and East Austin home," says Lick co-owner Anthony Sobotik in a release.
B.D. Riley's and Lick join recently opened J.T. Youngblood's in the Diamond Building. Other upcoming restaurants in the growing Aldrich Street corridor include Colleen's Kitchen, Bao'd Up, Halcyon Coffee + Bar + Lounge, and a local outpost of San Antonio's popular Stella Public House. All are slated to debut in 2017.
